Algorithms of distant communication

T his new world, with the same old maladies, and the new ways of expressing them! In touch, always ready to chat 24/7! but has ‘lost’ the touch Speaking through  machines to machines Connected virtually,  disconnected from reality! What is in this conversation,  You are reading,  but are you listening?   I am Facebooking my friends  all over the world, c hatting and,  feeling connected through & through, But, do I have time to a ctually ‘chat’ with those around me? and even if I do,  aren’t they all chatting  to someone,  somewhere else too!   And what is in this conversation  we are having, our heads down, our fingers busy, in the Algorithms of what is expected, We don’t look up, and  keep producing standard answers Hiding behind these claps,  smilies, frowns, love hearts, likes and cheers,  as t hey say better what I can say or what you choose to share, even tears! So much so that  the medium has becom...

Art - the soul of life

While enjoying the two exhibitions, Know My Name , by Aboriginal women artists and,   Botticelli to  Van Gogh, famous European artists,  at the  National Gallery  in  Canberra , I was thinking, these paintings, painted by people from another time, and another place  Cultures apart! Countries apart! Continents apart Centuries apart appeal to so many of us,  gathered here  These Pictures Stories Songs bringing us together What is in them, which appeals to every heart,  A common thread of beauty,  a shared definition of grace,  a collective consciousness of decency,   which I hope remain stronger than the ties of trade, the ropes of rivalry, and our global internationalisation!  Yes, if art be the soul of human life,  carry on!

DISCONNECTION

This new world, with old maladies, and the new ways of expressing them Connected virtually and disconnected  really Speaking through machines to machines! What is in this conversation we are having 24/7 Always ready, always connected With our heads down, our fingers busy, we don’t look up, and  in the Algorithms of what is expected,  we keep producing standard answers, 😊😑👏💓 claps, smilies, frowns, love hearts, cheers🥂 As they say better than what I can say or what you choose to say, even tears 😓  You are reading me, but are you listening? We are creating our own truths, analogous to each other, walking together but never the twain meet! I ‘breathe’ in my echo chamber, breathe in what chimes with me, breathe in what rhymes with me,    While you, in yours, thinking the same!    You don’t see, what I see,  a different script of the same story Written in our parallel worlds My heroes are not heroes in your story and vice versa...

Good and bad of distance

Distance What phenomenon is this? Distance – The Space in between the two points– Yes, the space between the points, or the two places, and between ideas, which is actually good, as different ideas, and thoughts can survive without smothering the other! And yes, the distance between bodies, hearts, and souls, between people, and that is good too, as they can thrive without bothering the other!  But is that bad?  They are all distant, a s there is a distance  between them. Still, the measure of the distance  between them,  how far, how long, how much, distant they are, that is connecting them,  So, they are connected by distance!!! Look at me, I have walked so far, far away from you, still the distance is connecting us!  Recently, I had read that  The distance between two points  is the length of the line segment connecting them, and that the distance between two points is always posit...

An Ode to distance

Let distance keep us together   It is so much easier to feel you, When I cannot see you, cannot touch you or smell you!   As when you are a far I can paint a perfect picture of you, and us, of our life! In it, I will be the love of your life; and you the life of my love …   And our life, an ad for eHarmony Our love - a Facebook post   Please let's not zoom nor WhatsApp ! It will be much more delicious to think of you,   Please let’s not phone each other! It will be much more poignant to speak to you/listen to you, Through the silence between us Heard melodies are sweet, but those not heard, are sweeter!
