Im right here, dear!

On my daily jog in the mornings, I've been seeing a woman sitting on the corner of the street next to a school. This street is a no through street for cars, only pedestrians can go through it. The first time I saw her, I was quite startled, because just as I turned the corner, from the street on the other side of the school, there was this person, right in the middle of nowhere sitting on a chair.  When I got closer, I realised, it was not a chair, but an extension seat jutting out from her walking frame.  She must have come there with great difficulty, walking with this apparatus from one of the houses close by, and then getting tired must have sat down there. I had thought.  She was quite a frail looking woman, maybe in her late 70s, but not sure, as her hair was covered under a scarf and she had a mask on her face. Her eyes were big and they followed me, may be, till I got to the other end of the street.  I turned to check  but she had lost interest and was l...

Story - part 2

Yes, I was just the witness, who had witnessed it all. Her life, her youth, her happiness, her miseries, and  her helplessness! And today, I was going to witness what will break her heart, and would literally break me, completely!  Her son had left the paper and the pen right there, for her to sign. She had lied down again feeling weak, sad and abandoned. I could hear her crying.  My Babli, yes, she was now frail with age too, but she was still so beautiful, soft and loving, and my love for her had now reached yet another height, I was able to feel her pain and hear her unspoken  words even, and I was very protective of her. She was whispering about the deed, her son had asked her to sign, and remembering her son's father, who had left her alone to face it all in her old age.  The house had to be sold. Yes, and she had to leave, this house, this city, where she had come as a bride 50 years ago, an 18 year old young bride.  We had hardly been separated durin...

Right to leave

Right to or left to die   She awaits at the curb of life for the road stretching beyond to fork into two directions! The right to or left to!  Y es, one day at a time,   she knows at least that much!!  “What would it be today”, she wonders! A day with the morning easy and the afternoon comfortable The actions less painful, and the acts pain free! The things, the people, the room, the window, less dark, and more of a blur Moving shadows, hands touching her, soft and not demanding, but caring!! Or would it be a day, she thinks,  completely dark but crystal clear,  showing her all the scars and scabs of life, peeling away into the days and nights which crowd her mind!  the only thing that she remembers is  the pain travelling from her body  to her spine, and from  her mind  subsiding into , if you believe in these type of things, her soul!! And what she can do is, walk one step at a time, till it is time!...
