Story - part 2

Yes, I was just the witness, who had witnessed it all. Her life, her youth, her happiness, her miseries, and  her helplessness! And today, I was going to witness what will break her heart, and would literally break me, completely!  Her son had left the paper and the pen right there, for her to sign. She had lied down again feeling weak, sad and abandoned. I could hear her crying.  My Babli, yes, she was now frail with age too, but she was still so beautiful, soft and loving, and my love for her had now reached yet another height, I was able to feel her pain and hear her unspoken  words even, and I was very protective of her. She was whispering about the deed, her son had asked her to sign, and remembering her son's father, who had left her alone to face it all in her old age.  The house had to be sold. Yes, and she had to leave, this house, this city, where she had come as a bride 50 years ago, an 18 year old young bride.  We had hardly been separated durin...

Cultural shift, loss or enrichment

This idea came to my mind today that how cultures can change, enriched, or get lost, just in one generation. It was a beautiful day today, blue skies, golden sunshine, and we were at a park in Western Sydney.  Especially it being the Sunday of a long weekend in winter, the park was full of people; everywhere, there were group picnics, grown ups sitting down, while children were biking, or just running around;  aroma of different types of food, colours of winter flowers, and falling leaves filled my senses, so sitting at our spot on the picnic rug, near a small lake, with the soothing sound of a water fountain, it was a perfect setting to close my eyes, and lie down to soak it all in.  I heard people sitting close by, a chattering group of 4 or 5 couples, men and women having lunch, joking around laughing, I could catch a few words of English, but couldn't understand their language, it was may be Telugu.   Then their children arrived from their play, and started ...

The Zoo animals

Enjoyed a Beautiful day at the Taronga zoo today. It all seemed so normal and usual, humans everywhere, car park full, ques to see animals from up close, to take photos with the koala, or to feed the giraffe, or to admire the elephants.  Or the rush to see the seal show, booked out, ques to get food, coffees, ice cream, children running around, shrieking with happiness at the playful meerkats digging the dirt, or the naughty chimpanzee jumping from the tree to the pit with leafy branches, throwing back at each other.  While the graceful zebra stands alone , the giraffe family is grazing together. And at The tiger walk, tigers basking in the afternoon sun, after a sumptuous lunch, yes, the real ones, and one tiger pacing around going round and round, as if in an orbit, made just for him, and a kid saying "I can watch this the whole day", while another was crying on missing out on seeing the baby spider. Looking at the animals, in captivity, so aloof, graceful, indifferent to t...

The unanswered questions of existence – the sense of being

That sense of being, which makes a sapling bloom like a flower, If that is its dharam [1] ; then the seed can’t do anything else; but grow up to be a tree! That existence consciousness that illuminates every man and woman with truth,   beauty, and   bliss of humanity, if that exists in you too then why does not your dharam  of being a human, make you human? That is the question every child caught up in war, violence, and abuse, Asks of humanity! And humanity, ashamed, cannot even answer a simple question, Why is it that every child, as is its dharam  to grow up, does not!      [1] Dharam is the intrinsic motivation, like a duty, to realise one's potential, to be what one is supposed to be.
